Roi Vaara brings art in the midst of people.

Performance artist Roi Vaara has criticised the art world for concentrating too much on museums and galleries. Vaara has chosen to make art differently, in the very midst of people. The artist became known for his performance character, who, painted white, walked in public spaces.

The performance raises questions about the meaning of art in everyday life. Does art exist to prettify life? Something we go to see in a space designated to it, when we want some entertainment. Or does it have meaning as part of our everyday lives?

Vaara will perform his work The Golden Handshakes, at the opening of the ARS 06 exhibition, and the video recording of the performance will be screened throughout the exhibition.
