Demo Wednesdays Kiasma Theatre ’s Demo Wednesdays feature artist lectures. The ideologies of creating art and the ideas behind different art forms are explored. Practical examples are included.

All Demo Lectures start at 18.00.

2.9. Performance artist Masi Eskolin is the new head of the Rovaniemi Theatre (2010), whose work Sellainen kuin premieres at Kiasma Theatre on September 23. Eskolin’s theoretical thinking in the aforementioned work is based on the concept of the shared stage.

7.10. Riikka Pelo is an author who also works as a scriptwriter in the fields of media art and film, and still finds the time to work on a doctoral thesis in Helsinki University of Art and Design’s school of Motion Picture, Television and Production Design. She investigates the principles of an author’s work through her own art. She uses the concept of caesura to address these questions.

4.11. Esa Kirkkopelto is a theatre director, scriptwriter, and professor at the Helsinki University of Art and Design. He holds a degree in dramaturgy and has a PhD in Philosophy. Since 2004 he has organised Nälkäteatteri’s Toisissa Tiloissa workshop, which explores new ways of creating theatre. At his Demo Wednesday lecture he will speak about giving up directing.

2.12. Timo Muurinen is a sound designer, musician and composer whose work can been heard at countless theatre performances. At his Demo Wednesday lecture he explores the effect of sound on the temporality of a performance, as well as the interplay between sound and action through a performance installation. Joining him is actor Jukka Peltola.
