DemoKino is a virtual biopolitical agora, the format of which resembles democratic decision making. Vote and have a say!

DemoKino consists of eight short films portraying a young man's everyday life in his own home. Amidst his ordinary daily chores, he ponders several controversial issues, such as abortion, cloning, euthanasia and gay marriage.

At the end of each film, the audience can vote by raising their hands either in favour of or against the issue at hand. As is the case in democracy, the majority wins, and, in addition, the voting result also influences which room in his house and which topic the man will raise in the next film.

DemoKino wants to shed light on the problems of current politics and claims that direct action and influencing are not possible in the prevailing system.

Janez Janša is a conceptual artist, performer and producer. He has directed several videos, performances, installations, documentaries and media projects. His works have been exhibited all over the world. Since 2002, Grassi has been the Artistic Director of Aksioma, a non-profit cultural organisation that produces, distributes and presents projects involving new technology and that wants to encourage debate on the structures of today's society.
