Architect Steven Holl

Kiasma was designed by the American architect Steven Holl. In addition to Kiasma, Holl has designed 16 other museums around the world, including museums of natural history in Los Angeles and Copenhagen, an art museum in Nanjing, China, and the Knut Hamsun Centre in Hamarøy, Norway.

Holl is the recipient of several prestigious architecture awards. He has written extensively on architecture and has taught at several universities. His work has been presented in architectural exhibitions and numerous publications around the world.

Steven Holl was born in Bremerton, Washington, in 1947. He studied architecture in Washington, and pursued further studies in Rome and London. He founded his own practice, Steven Holl Architects, in New York in 1976.
